This small booklet describes the role of the Forward Air Controller (FAC) in the Vietnam War. The FAC flew an unarmed spotter plane that could mark the target for the fighter/bombers – targets that the fighter aircraft could not see because of the jungle. In particular, this booklet covers the FAC operations in support of the First Australian Task Force in Phuoc Tuy province. Their radio call sign was ‘Jade’.
